Join the PGSA Community

The HKU Postgraduate Student Association (PGSA) serves all HKU students and alumni by fostering engagement, support, and a vibrant postgraduate community. We welcome members from different backgrounds and study stages to join us and enjoy the benefits of PGSA membership.

Membership Types

1. Full Membership

Eligible for:

All currently enrolled postgraduate students at HKU, including both full-time and part-time students.
Validity:

Until the end of your student status at HKU.
Benefits and Rights:

Full Members have the right to attend General Meetings and General Votes.
Full Members are entitled to vote in PGSA affairs.
Full Members also have the right to vote in Executive Committee elections and to be nominated as candidates.

2. Alumni Membership

Eligible for:

HKU postgraduate students who were previously Full Members and have graduated;
HKU postgraduate alumni who were never Full Members may also apply.

Status Update:

Full Members will automatically become Alumni Members upon graduation.
If an Alumni Member re-enrols in a postgraduate programme at HKU, membership will be restored to Full Membership.

Benefits and Rights:

Alumni Members may attend General Meetings.
However, they may not participate in voting activities or meetings involving voting rights.
Alumni Members do not have voting or nomination rights in Executive Committee elections.
Alumni Members may enjoy the same event benefits as Full Members, subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee.

3. Affiliate Membership

Eligible for:

All non-postgraduate students, such as undergraduate and exchange students.
Validity:

Until graduation.
Upgrade Opportunity:

If an Affiliate Member later becomes a postgraduate student at HKU, the membership may be upgraded to Full Membership.

Benefits and Rights:

Affiliate Members may attend General Meetings.
However, they may not participate in voting activities or meetings involving voting rights.
Affiliate Members do not have voting or nomination rights in Executive Committee elections.
Affiliate Members may enjoy the same event benefits as Full Members, subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee.
