" Hong Kong Through the Camera: My Journey with the City "
Photography Competition
We cordially invite you to participate in the 2025 PGSA “Hong Kong Through the Camera: My Journey with the City” Photography Competition. Capture Hong Kong's dazzling night views, classical architecture, breathtaking landscapes of mountains and seas, and the vivid scenes of daily life, portraying the most authentic and vivid impression of Hong Kong through your eyes. Each photograph carries the story of your encounter, acquaintance, and companionship with this city, inviting us all to embark on a dialogue between the soul and the metropolis amidst the interplay of light and shadow.
Event Details
Postgraduate Student Association (PGSA) invites all HKU students, alumni and staff to participate in the "Hong Kong Through the camera: My Journey with the City" photography competition to share your exclusive memories of Hong Kong. By participating in the event, you will not only have the opportunity to win prize of photograph instrument but also have your works exhibited on the G floor of Chi Wah Learning Commons (智華館) from April 22 to 26, 2025, as we have already applied for the exhibition venue at there.
Competition process:
Submission Deadline: Feb. 28, 2025
Result Release: Mar. 15-18, 2025
Current students and alumni of HKU will log in to the voting platform through HKU email to vote. 40% of the total score comes from public judges, 20% from the PGSA jury, and 40% from professional photographer. The invited professional judge is Mr. CHEN Xuankai, an 8K RAW contract photographer.

Both novice and experienced photographers are welcome to join this fun-filled competition open to all HKU postgraduate students.
There will be professional photography judges for selection, and rich prizes await you! Winning and outstanding photographic works will be exhibited from April 22 to April 26, 2025, at the Chi Wah Building, Level G.

Public Voting
After a month-long submission period, we received 345 entries. HKU PGSA has selected 54 photography works for the second round of public voting based on criteria such as image quality, creativity, and relevance to the theme.
